MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University women's soccer team played the No. 4 Cougars of Columbus State University in a Peach Belt Conference matchup on Wednesday night. The Cougars shutout the Lakers, 7-0.
The Cougars kept their foot on the gas throughout the first half of play as they scored three times. Columbus State scored a penalty kick in the 10
th minute, off a break away in the 13
th minute, and scored their third in the 23
rd minute. The best opportunity for the Lakers was at the 41
st minute when
Frederikke Troldborg set up
Nyeemah Lucky in front of the net, but the ball was stopped by the Cougar keeper.
Halftime: No. 4 Columbus State 2, Clayton State 1
In the second half, The Cougars did not let up as they tacked on another four goals to make the score, 7-0.
Ashlynne Sova,
Tahlia Stangherlin, and
Kamila Mroziewicz all marked shots on goal in the half.
Columbus State outshot the Lakers, 43-9, in the match and went on to win, 7-0.
