Clayton State Athletics and City of Morrow Announce Community Partnership

MORROW, Ga. – In efforts to strengthen the two communities, Clayton State Athletics and the City of Morrow have announced a new community partnership.

This community partnership will continue the efforts that Clayton State Athletics has committed to enhancing the student-athlete experience. The City of Morrow's presence will be felt with signage in the Athletics Center, during home Clayton State Broadcasts through the PBC Sports Network and in all soccer and basketball gameday programs.

"Clayton State Athletics is proud to promote the City of Morrow as a community partner. The support we receive from Mayor John Lampl and his team has been terrific," Director of Athletics Ryan Erlacher said.

"There's a reason why our student-athletes are continuously ranked top five in the NCAA for community service hours, they love to give back to their local community. That commitment is a direct reflection of the type of relationship in place between the City of Morrow and our University, it's special."

Efforts to strengthen the two communities were seen this past year as the city unveiled the newly painted Jonesboro Road Water Tower which is branded with the Clayton State Lakers logo and the message, Welcome to Morrow Home of the Clayton State Lakers painted above it.

"Our partnership with Clayton State University is a key step in progressive development in the City of Morrow. We are committed to public-private partnerships that support Morrow's goal of a prosperous and vibrant community," said City of Morrow Mayor John Lampl at the dedication.

The Lakers have also joined in on several community engagement projects over the years, several of which have included local elementary schools.

Earlier this year, during the Clayton State Hall of Fame Ceremony, Mayor Lampl presented the 2011 NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Team with keys to the city.
