AUGUSTA, Ga. – Nico Cabello has been named the Peach Belt Conference Men's Golfer of the Week, the league announced Thursday.
 
This marks the first time the Chilean has earned the weekly honor by the conference and the first time Clayton State has had a Golfer of the Week since Oct. 3, 2019, when Joseph Kim earned it.
 
Cabello played one of his best tournaments of his career when he finished in second place at the Argonaut Invitational on April 4-5.
 
In a field of 93 competitors, the junior shot 68-66-73 to finish at 9-under 207. He entered the tournament ranked 97th in Division II and finished ahead of 31 golfers ranked ahead of him, including the No. 2, 3, & 4 individuals in Division II.
 


Because of this performance, he has jumped to No. 34 in Division II.
 
His 9-under 207 is tied for fourth in program history for lowest 54-hole score and his 6-under second-round score is tied for fourth in the PBC this season (relative to par).
 
The Lakers have the week off before traveling to St. Simon for the PBC Championship on April 15-17.
