ATLANTA – The Clayton State women's track & field team finished 7-of-22 at the Emory Thrills in the Hills Open Saturday.
Following two track events Saturday morning, the women's 4x100m relay team of
Ariyonna Jones,
Maya Adams,
Jasmine Benson and
Cayla Brown ran 48.00 to take first place in the event.
That time ranks first in the Southeast Region and 21st nationally.
Adams added to the strong results with a second-place finish in the 100m finals. After running 12.47 in the prelims, the freshman ran 12.23 in the finals, edging third by .001.
Brown also advanced to the finals after a 12.25 prelim time. In the finals, she ran 12.29 to finish fourth.
Back in the relays, the same squad as the 4x100m team put together a time of 4:09.13 to place fourth in the 4x400m.
Ny'Asia Green recorded her second top-three result of the weekend in the jumps, finishing 3-of-21 in the triple with a mark of 10.63m.
In the shot put,
Shania Riles threw 10.15m on her second attempt, putting her 13-of-40.
Clayton State is back in action on Saturday in Carrollton, Ga. for the West Georgia Legends Invitational.
