ATLANTA - The Clayton State men's track & field team concluded its first of two Emory meets on Saturday, placing 10th out of 22 schools while picking up one win at the Emory Spring Break Classic.
The Lakers saved its best performance for the final event of the day. Running in the first 4x400m relay section of the event, Clayton State's
Nigel Roulhac passed two competitors on the back stretch to give the Lakers the win with a time of 3:19.78. That mark currently ranks ninth in the nation and second in the Southeast Region.
Titus Hand ran the first leg while
Joshua Ferrell ran second and
Gary Moore third.
Roulhac also delivered in the 400m, scoring third with a 48.92 while Ferrell ran 49.19 to score sixth out of 47 runners.
The Lakers finished with 38 points in the meet to take 10th. Berry won the meet while host Emory placed second.
Abijah Wilcox cleared 13.67m on his first attempt in the triple jump to place 2-of-14.
The 4x100m relay squad of
Kelvin Oppong,
Roderick Winfrey, Hand and
Churchill Ezeokonkwo placed 4-of-16 after putting together a time of 42.79.
Derrick Ward ran 57.96 in the 400m hurdles to finish 7-of-27.
Clayton State returns to Emory on Friday for the Emory Thrills in the Hills Open.
