MORROW, Ga. –The Clayton State men's and women's basketball teams will hit the road Wednesday to take on the North Georgia Nighthawks for a Peach Belt Conference matchup.
The women play first at 5:30 p.m. while the men follow at 7:30 p.m. Both games can be watched
here.
The women will take on No. 11 UNG for the second time this season. The Lakers fell 70-61 on Jan. 12 at home but still own the overall series, going 26-23.
Clayton State is coming off a pair of wins over Young Harris and USC Aiken. On Saturday,
Jadah Waite hit a jumper with six seconds left to lift the Lakers to the win over YHC. On Monday, the
Kaleena Coleman '06 led team raced past the Pacers, winning 73-54.
UNG is coming off a 62-59 loss to Ga. Southwestern, snapping an 11-game win streak. They sit atop the conference standings, holding a one-game lead over GSW. The Lakers are fourth in the standings and are tied with Columbus State and Flagler.
Timi'a Swanson has led Clayton State the past three games as she averaged 18.6 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.3 steals.
Audrey McElhaney leads the team with 15.4 points per game and 8.3 rebounds.
Following Wednesday's game, the Lakers host Columbus State for Homecoming on Saturday at 3 p.m. After this week, they have four games left, three of which are at home.
The men's team is coming off a tough loss to USC Aiken on Monday after taking down Young Harris on Saturday. In the win over Young Harris,
Ricardo Saams Jr. scored a career-high 37 points.
Earlier in the season, the Lakers lost a close contest against the Nighthawks at home, 70-64.
North Georgia is coming off three-straight losses to USC Aiken, No. 23 Augusta and Ga. Southwestern. The Nighthawks are sixth in the league's standings while the Lakers are ninth and two games back of the final tournament spot.
Jalen Shaw continues to lead the Lakers with 14.2 points a game and 8.3 rebounds.
Ricardo Lynch and Saams Jr. are also scoring in double figures.
