COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Led an
Ariyonna Jones school record, the Clayton State women's track & field team closed out its indoor regular season Friday at the USC Indoor Open.
The University of South Carolina played host to the meet that featured over 30 institutions from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and NJCAA.
Both Jones and
Cayla Brown broke the school record in the 300m which was set by Brown in the opening race of the season. In the race of six, Jones finished third but was the first athlete to cross the line that was affiliated with a school. Her time of 40.72 is over a second faster the Brown's time set in December. Brown finished fourth in the race with a 41.79.
At the Clemson Opener in December, Brown ran a 42.09.
Maya Adams ran an 8.04 for an 18th place result in 60m in a field that consisted of 61 runners.
Cayla Brown finished 29-of-92 in the 200m with a 26.24.
Jones' school record was the second record set this season for the women. They will now shift their focus to the outdoor season which begins on March 5 at Southern Wesleyan.
