Lakers Basketball Hosts Columbus State for Homecoming Saturday Afternoon

MORROW, Ga. - The Clayton State basketball programs are set to host Columbus State Saturday afternoon. 

On Saturday, Clayton State University will host its annual Homecoming.

The women's game will tipoff at 3 p.m. as the men follow after. Fans can watch both games here

Head Coach Kaleena Coleman '06 has led her team to three-straight wins including an upset on Wednesday night, taking down No. 11 North Georgia. Trailing 28-27 at halftime, the Lakers outscored the Nighthawks 41-28 in the second half to take the win on the road. 

On Monday, the Lakers raced past USC Aiken, winning 73-54 after squeaking past Young Harris 60-58. 

For the season, Clayton State is 12-9, 6-7 in Peach Belt Conference play. 

Audrey McElhaney continues to lead the Lakers with 14.8 points and 8.0 rebounds a game. Over the past four games, Timi'a Swanson is averaging 17.7 points, 7.25 and 4.0 steals. 

Earlier in the season, Clayton State fell 78-68 at Columbus State. The Cougars lead the overall series, 33-25. 

Columbus State sits at 12-11 and 5-8 in league play. The Lakers hold a game-lead over the Cougars in the PBC standings for fourth. With a win, Clayton State moves one step closer to securing a home conference tournament matchup. 

The men are coming off a pair of tough losses to USC Aiken and North Georgia. For the season, the Lakers are 7-16 and 2-11 in league play but are just two games out of eighth place in the conference standings. 

Jalen Shaw leads the team with 14.7 points per game and sits atop the conference with 8.5 rebounds a game. His 61.7 shooting percentage also leads the league while he is fifth in blocked shots (1.3). He also leads the league with nine double-doubles. 

His FG% ranks 17th in the country while his 138 free throw attempts are 13th. His 195 total rebounds are 26th. 

Columbus State is 16-7 on the season and 7-6 in conference play. They currently are fifth in the league standings.
