MORROW, Ga. – Golfstat came out with their latest Top 25 National poll for Division II on Tuesday.  The Clayton State men's golf team found themselves No. 12 in the poll.
 
In the poll, the Lakers join North Georgia (7), Georgia Southwestern (11), and Lander (24) as the only Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Schools represented.  The 12^th spot is highest ranking in any poll this season for the Lakers.  In addition, Daniel Medellin is the 27^th ranked men's golfer in Division II.  Felipe Gomez is also in the top-100 in the country as he found himself in 81^st.  Medellin is the third best golfer in the PBC, while Gomez is the eighth-best golfer in the conference.
 
As a team, the Lakers posted two top-five finishes.  Also, as a team, the Lakers turned in six rounds in the 60s, 12 rounds below par, and seven rounds at even-par.  Medellin led the Lakers in fall season.  Medellin finished each of the four tournaments in the top-15 with his best finish being in 5^th place at the Columbus State Cougar Invitational. He also leads the team averaging 71.6 strokes a round. 
 
Following Medellin was Felipe Gomez.  Gomez, who was selected as the PBC Men's Golfer of the Week on October 26^th, placed in the top-five in the final two tournaments of the season.  Gomez was tied for second in the McCoy Wright Currahee Collegiate Invitational and placed third in the Columbus State Cougar Invitational.  Gomez also holds the lowest round by any Laker golfer this season after shooting a 67 in the second round of the Cougar Invitational.  That is good for tied for 13^th all-time.  
 
Looking at the Spring 2023 slate, the Lakers open with the GSW Hurricane Invitational on Monday, February 27^th through Tuesday, February 28^th.  Later in the season, the Lakers play in the Bearcat Invitational (March 6-7), the Bobcat Invitational (March 20-21), the Tennessee River Rumble (March 27-28), and finish the season with the PBC Championships at the Forest Hills Country Club on April 20^th through the 23^rd.
