Lakers Shutout Hurricanes on Wednesday Evening

The Lakers picked up their second shutout in three matches

MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University women's soccer team hosted the Hurricanes of Georgia Southwestern State University on Wednesday evening.  The Lakers picked up their second victory of the season, winning, 2-0. 
 
Neither team cracked the scoring column in the first half, but the Lakers put a lot of pressure on the Hurricane defensive unit throughout the half.  The Lakers notched three corner kicks and connected on eight shots.  The best shot for the Lakers was in the 39th minute when a corner kick by Frederikke Troldborg found the head of Kamila Mroziewicz but her shot was smothered by the Hurricane keeper.  The Lakers and Hurricanes played to a 0-0 draw after the first 45 minutes. 
 
Halftime: Clayton State 0, Ga. Southwestern State 0
 
The Lakers picked up the pace early in the second half.  In the 50th minute, off a nice through-ball from Daniela Gularte, Reia Henry fired a shot past the Hurricane keeper for her first goal of the season, making the score, 1-0.  The Lakers extended their lead in the 75th minute. Nyeemah Lucky headed in her second goal of the season after a brilliant corner kick by Troldborg.  Clayton State led, 2-0. 
 
The Lakers picked up their clean sheet of the season as they defeated Georgia Southwestern State, 2-0.
