MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State men's and women's basketball teams will hit the road Wednesday as Peach Belt Conference play begins for the Lakers.
Clayton State will travel to Young Harris for a league doubleheader. The women will play at 5:30 while the men play at 7:30.
The Lakers are on the road for six dates during January while playing at home three times.
The women's basketball team last played on Dec. 11 and is on a two-game win streak after taking down Clark Atlanta and Tuskegee. For the season, they are 6-2 after starting the year with four straight wins.
Audrey McElhaney is leading the team with 14.3 points per game and is third on the team with 6.3 rebounds per game. On Dec. 13, the junior was named PBC Player of the Week after she averaged 20.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in the wins over Tuskegee and CAU.
The Mountain Lions are 8-3 for the season but have dropped their last two games, both against conference opponents Georgia College and Flagler.
The men's team last played on Dec. 15 at Florida Southern where they fell 73-67. Clayton State is 5-4 so far this year and put together a four-game win streak before playing FSC.
Three of those wins came against teams who advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season.
Jalen Shaw leads the team with 16.0 points per game and 8.0 rebounds. On Dec. 13, the big man was named PBC Player of the Week.
Ricardo Lynch is second on the team with 15.3 points per game.
Young Harris sits at 3-8 this season and has lost three-straight, including a pair of conference matchups.
