AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Clayton State men's basketball team dropped its second matchup against a ranked opponent Saturday evening, falling 85-70 at No. 24 Augusta in a Peach Belt Conference matchup.
Wes Williams led the Lakers with 14 points, marking his thrid-straight game with double-digit points.
The Jaguars took an early 2-0 lead, but Clayton State took over and led 8-6 at the 15:23 mark. Augusta answered back, using a 9-0 run to lead 15-8 with 13:30 left in the first half.
Clayton State attempted to come back, but would trail by 12 with just over five minutes to play. A
Ricardo Lynch 3-pointer with 30 seconds left cut the deficit to 38-32 at halftime.
Jalen Shaw added 11 points and six rebounds in 20 minutes of play while
Kobie Johnson also had 11 points.
The second half wasn't any better for the Lakers. Clayton State pulled within three points with 10:38 left in the game, but Augusta pulled away to win by 15.
Ricardo Saams Jr. had six points and six rebounds.
