Lakers Basketball Travels to USC Aiken for Wednesday Matchup

MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State men's and women's basketball teams are back on the road for a mid-week Peach Belt Conference doubleheader at USC Aiken.

Both games will be live streamed here and ticket info can be found here. Tipoff for the women is set for 5:30 p.m. The men will follow at 7:30 p.m.

The women's basketball team has dropped four-straight games to open the conference schedule including a pair of ranked contests against No. 10 Lander and No. 11 North Georgia this past week.

Clayton State will look to get back on course and end their skid. The last time the Lakers posted a four-game losing streak (2019-20), they responded with 11-straight wins. They are 27-14 against USC Aiken and have won the last five.

Audrey McElhaney leads the team and is fourth in the conference with 16.8 points a game and sits sixth in the league with 7.8 rebounds.

The Pacers have lost three of the last four games and are 5-8 for the season and 1-4 in the conference. Their lone win came against Georgia College, who the Lakers play Saturday.

Jentri Worley leads Aiken with 14.0 points a game while Chidinma Okafor is averaging 12.2 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks.

The men's team is looking to end a three-game skid with the matchup on Wednesday. The game will be a special one as Vince Alexander returns to Aiken for the first time while coaching another PBC team. Alexander coached the Pacers for 10 seasons and had plenty of success.

The overall series is tied 21-21 and the last 10 matchups are tied 5-5 with Aiken winning last season.

The last two losses for Clayton State have been by an average of five points.

Jalen Shaw and Ricardo Lynch are each scoring 14.2 points while Shaw is pulling down 7.6 rebounds a game. Ricardo Saams Jr. and Kobie Johnson are each scoring 10.8 points. Johnson is adding 3.1 assists and 1.1 steals.

Aiken opened its season at Clayton State in the PBC vs. SAC Conference Challenge. They boast a 10-5 record and are 4-1 in league play. On Saturday, they won a double-overtime contest at Georgia Southwestern.

David Strother is scoring 16.2 points while Tehree Horn is averaging 16.1 points.
