BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Clayton State women's track & field team hit the track for the first time in over a month Sunday with the Emory CrossPlex Showdown.
The Lakers last competed on Dec. 3 at the Clemson Opener.
Ten student-athletes competed in at least one event with many competing in multiple events.
Mississippi College claimed the team title over the 11 schools to participate. Clayton State finished 11th overall.
Maya Adams had a strong day after advancing to the semifinal round of the 60m with a time of 8.14 in the preliminaries. She finished ninth (8:02) in that race and was just .04 away from the advancing to the finals. Her 8.02 ranks third fastest in program history.
She also competed in the 200m and took 17th-of-31 after running a 27.61.
In the field events,
Ny'Asia Green jumped 5.22m on her second attempt to collect the only points for the Lakers in fifth place.
Cayla Brown ran a 26.97 in the 200m to take 10th while
Aija Wall finished 11th in the 400m with a time of 1:05.82.
Marina Brown finished 12th-of-21 in the 800m while running a 2:37.69.
Clayton State returns to the Magic City on Sunday for the KMS Invitational which will be held at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
