AMERICUS, Ga. – The Clayton State men's soccer team battled Georgia Southwestern to a 1-1 draw in a Wednesday night Peach Belt Conference matchup.

The Lakers (3-3-2) were limited on offense in the first half, but scored the opening goal in the 13th minute after Gio Rios was fouled right outside the 18-yard box. The captain took the free kick and slipped it past the keeper for Clayton State's only goal of the match.

Ten minutes later, the Hurricanes were able to draw even after a Clayton State penalty inside the box to setup a Hurricane penalty kick opportunity.

The score remained 1-1 for the remainder of the match.

The Lakers had only one shot in the first half but finished with 12 as GSW totaled 11. Alexis Iturria led Clayton State with four shots, two on goal, while Joel McIlroy had three shots.

Theo Blachon had two saves in the draw
