MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State men's soccer team opened Peach Belt Conference play on Wednesday with a 4-0 win over USC Aiken.
Alexis Iturria had his first multi-goal collegiate game while all four goals had an assist.
The Lakers (2-3-1) opened the game with several chances before taking a 1-0 lead in the 42nd minute.
After being awarded a corner kick,
Isami Takeuchi quickly passed the ball to
Geo Rios who then found Iturria for the opening goal of the match.
The Lakers led 1-0 at half with a 9-4 shot advantage.
Clayton State didn't add its second goal until the 68th minute when Rios found Iturria again for a goal. The second assist from Rios marked his league-leading sixth assist for the season.
Less than six minutes later,
Brad Kay found the back of the net with an assist from
Lewis Green while
Joe Conway scored in the 83rd with an assist from
Isaac Pimenta.
The Lakers outshot USC Aiken 22-7 while placing 15 shots on goal.
Theo Blachon had his second clean sheet of the season and made four saves.
