MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Junior Jessica Maye had a breakout game on Saturday as the Clayton State women's basketball team throttled Georgia College 69-38 in a Peach Belt Conference matchup.

Maye scored a game and career-high 20 points in the win while pulling down six rebounds. The Birmingham, Ala. native entered Saturday's matchup averaging 3.8 points per game and had scored over 10 points once this season when she scored 11 in the first meeting against the Bobcats in January.

The first quarter was a battle with the lead changing four times and neither team leading by more than four points throughout the opening 10 minutes.

Georgia College (1-12, 1-12 PBC) would lead 10-6 with 3:12 left in the quarter before Maye and Timi'a Swanson tied the game at 10-10. The Bobcats took their last lead of the game with just over a minute left, but Clayton State (8-4, 8-4 PBC) closed the frame with a 4-0 run and never trailed again.

The Lakers steadily built a double-digit lead in the second and outscored the Bobcats 16-2 to lead 30-14 at halftime.

The win on Saturday marked the seventh-straight over Georgia College, the ninth in the last 10 meetings and the 22nd in the last 23.

Clayton State continued to control the game in the third quarter, building a 22-point after three quarters. Maye scored 11 of the team's 17 points in the quarter after only having two points in the entire first half.

The Lakers refused to let up in the final 10 minutes and dropped 22 points, leading by as many as 36 with seven minutes to play.

Swanson added 12 points in the contest while Kevanika Brown chipped in eight points, four rebounds and five steals.
