MORROW, Ga. – Clayton State Director of Athletics
Ryan Erlacher has announced current Head Athletic Trainer
Griffin Warner has been named Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Medicine.
Warner joined Laker Nation in the spring of 2020.
"Griffin has been exceptional from the moment he arrived at Clayton State," Erlacher said. "He and his staff have done a terrific job navigating the COVID-19 pandemic and have worked tirelessly to keep our teams, and staff, safe.
"He's elevated every aspect of our sports medicine operation, particularly in the areas of professionalism, quality of care, and level of service we provide our student-athletes. The culture and service standards he's established in our athletic training room are some of the best I've seen out of a sports medicine office."
While overseeing the entire sports medicine office, Warner has primarily worked with men's soccer and men's basketball. He has also worked with cheer and men's golf.
Outside of the training room, Warner has led department-wide CPR training sessions and has taken on a greater role with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Warner also oversaw the sports medicine efforts for the 2021 PBC Cross Country Championships.
After the 2020-21 season, Warner's staff earned the Athletics Department Staff of the Year award.
"The men's soccer program is blessed to have Griffin as, not only the Head Athletic Trainer, but the team's primary trainer," head men's soccer coach
Pete Petersen said. "We see him daily and his attitude and approach to each of the fellas is outstanding and refreshing. Congratulations to Griffin, the new title is well deserved."
In July 2021, Warner added
Jasmin Le to the sports medicine staff, joining
McKenzie Higgins, who came on board in 2020.
Warner is a long-time member of the Peach Belt Conference. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of North Georgia and then a graduate degree from Young Harris College, where he helped the Mountain Lions earn a pair of PBC Athletic Training Staff of the Year awards.
He is a BOC certified athletic trainer, holds an athletic training license with the State of Georgia and is CPR and AED certified through the American Heart Association. He is also a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association.
