SAVANNAH, Ga. --Â The Clayton State men's basketball team held Savannah State to a 23-point second half as the Lakers won 75-56 Saturday afternoon.Â
The Lakers pick up their third-straight win of the season and won the first ever matchup between the two schools.Â
Ricardo Lynch led all scorers with 25 points, the second time this season the first-year Laker reached that mark. He added six rebounds while shooting 50% from 3-point range.Â
Clayton State took a 7-2 lead three minutes into the game but would trail 19-13 halfway through the first half. The Lakers reclaimed the lead with a little over five minutes remaining off a
Jalen Shaw layup, but SSU closed the half with a 12-7 run to lead 33-29 at halftime.Â
The second half was a different story. After the two teams traded buckets and the lead, Clayton State used a 16-0 run to pull ahead 54-40 with a little over 10 minutes to play.Â
The deficit would be too much for Savannah State as the Lakers built its lead to over 20 points with under a minute left before the Tigers answered with a jumper in the final seconds to close the game.Â
Shaw added 16 points and just missed out on a double-double with nine rebounds. He also had three assists. Glen Robinson II scored a season-best 10 points and had six rebounds.Â
Austin Hadden had seven points, three rebounds, four assists and three steals.Â
