MORROW, Ga. – Clayton State had two student-athletes named Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Audrey McElhaney was named Women's Basketball Player of the Week while
Jalen Shaw took home Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors. This is the first time since the 2019-20 season a women's basketball player has earned the award and first time since the 2018-19 season a men's basketball player earned the award.
The selections also mark the first time the men's and women's basketball team have claimed the awards on the same week.
McElhaney was tremendous at both ends of the court as the Lakers went 2-0 last week. The junior forward from Tifton, Ga. averaged 20.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game, shooting 57% from the field. She started with a season-high 24 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Clark Atlanta. She then followed that with 17 points and eight boards at Tuskegee. Nine of her 19 total rebounds were on the offensive glass and she added four assists and two blocks on the week. McElhaney is currently ninth in the PBC in scoring and second in field goal percentage.

Shaw had a double-double as the Lakers downed Valdosta State 81-75 to extend their winning streak to four. The junior center from Elgin, Ill. scored 17 points with 10 boards in 35 minutes of action, adding a pair of blocks, two assists and a steal. He hit 7-of-11 field goals (.636) and all three of his free throw attempts. Shaw is currently third in the PBC in rebounding, second in field goal percentage and second in blocks.
