MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State women's basketball team is back in action Friday with the UNG Nighthawk Classic as the Lakers head to the University of North Georgia for a pair of neutral-site contests.
On Friday, Clayton State will battle Montevallo at 4:00 p.m. before facing off against Delta State at noon on Saturday. Both teams hail from the Gulf South Conference.

The Lakers are 17-3 all-time against Montevallo and have won 15 straight. The two teams last met in 2017. The Falcons are 3-1 this season and have a win over No. 11 Tampa.
Against Delta State, the Lakers are 1-2. The last time the two teams played was in 2012. The Lady Statesman are 1-1 for the season.
The Lakers are off to a 2-0 start with wins over UVA Wise and Anderson. Both wins came in St. Augustine, Fla. as Clayton State took part in the Southeast Region Crossover.
In the season opener, Clayton State was in a close battle with UVA Wise before outscoring the opposition 19-3 in the final quarter.
The following day, the
Kaleena Coleman '06 led team was tied 30-30 at halftime, but outscored Anderson 43-18 in the final 20 minutes to take the win.
Timi'a Swanson is leading the team with 17.5 points per game and 3.5 steals a game. She also has 7.5 rebounds per game. Her All-Conference counterpart
Audrey McElhaney is scoring 13.5 points per game and is averaging a team-high 9.5 rebounds a game.
Newcomer
Diamond Swift is scoring 8 points per game and is dishing out 4.5 assists while grabbing 4.5 rebounds.
Looking ahead, Clayton State will open its home schedule on Tuesday, November 23 against Carson-Newman.
