MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State men's basketball team will play its first road game of the season on Tuesday as the Lakers travel down I-75 for a matchup against Valdosta State.

The Blazers are making their home debut for the season after starting the 2021-22 campiagn on the road at Fort Valley State for the GSC / SIAC Conference Challenge. VSU went 1-1 with a loss to Clark Atlanta and a win over Fort Valley State.
Clayton State opened the season at home on Friday and Saturday with the PBC / SAC Conference Challenge. The Lakers fell to No. 17 Lincoln Memorial on Friday before defeating Tusculum 83-79 on Saturday. Clayton State's first three opponents this season qualified for the NCAA Tournament last season.
The win was the first for the Lakers since Feb. 22, 2020. Head Coach
Vince Alexander is in his first season in Morrow after taking over the program during the spring.
VSU has won three-straight over Clayton State and holds an 8-3 record against the Lakers. The two teams haven't played since the 2010-11 season.
Clayton State is led by
Ricardo Lynch who is scoring 18 points per game and and is grabbing five rebounds a game.
Jalen Shaw is second on the team with 17.5 ppg and has a team-high five steals.
Kobie Johnson leads the team with 29.5 minutes per game and is shooting 42.9% from three.
Ricardo Saams Jr. is shooting 80.0% from the field and had 18 points in the win over Tusculum.
