MORROW, Ga. –  The Clayton State men's soccer team earned a 4-0 Peach Belt Conference win over Georgia Southwestern Wednesday evening at Laker Field.

Clayton State remains second in the conference standings with 16 points and is just six points back of Young Harris. Lander is third with 12 points and is currently playing USC Aiken at the time of this release.

The Lakers wasted no time finding the back of the net as Geo Rios raced into the 18-yard box and delivered an assist to Brad Kay who flicked the ball in for the opening goal in the fifth minute.

A little less than seven minutes later, Langston Blackstock delivered his team-leading sixth goal after receiving a brilliant ball from Alexis Iturria who managed to stay on his feet after a challenge from behind. Blackstock took four touches to create enough space and buried the ball to the keeper's left.

Clayton State led 2-0 at half and outshot the Hurricanes 13-3 in the opening 45 minutes.

Over eleven minutes into the second half, the Lakers struck again with a goal from Vic Delgado Miller. After a foul was called against GSW in their own territory, Delgado Miller played a quick ball to Rios who immediately passed it back.

Delgado Miller dribbled up the field, drawing two defenders before finding Rios again. Rios then placed the ball to where only Delgado Miller could find it who then one-touched it in the corner of the net.

The Lakers continued to play with the lead and scored their final goal in the 75th minute off a penalty kick after a Hurricane hand ball inside the box.

Clayton State called upon Isami Takeuchi to take the kick, who, in turn, buried the ball for his first-career goal.

The Lakers closed the game with a shot advantage of 21-10.

Theo Blachon made several point-blank saves and turned in his second conference clean sheet of the season.

Rios now has a conference-high 10 assists and is second in the nation in assists.

COMING UP:
- The Lakers are on the road Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. matchup against Flagler College.
