MORROW, Ga. – Late on Thursday, March 12, NCAA President Mark Emmert made the unprecedented decision to cancel all of the organization's winter and spring championships at all levels in response to the rapid spread of the Coronavirus, a decision which included the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Southeast Regional and casts doubt on the remaining spring season.
Â
Clayton State women's basketball was set to begin its 14
th foray into the NCAA Tournament tomorrow afternoon, but along with the other 64 teams in the field, have now concluded their season, finishing at 20-10 overall.
Â
A wide ranging decision that has also cancelled the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Basketball Championships for the first time in their history (men since 1939, women 1982), it also calls into question whether member institutions will be allowed to continue their spring regular seasons, at some point, without a national championship being held.
Â
No decision has yet been made on this as it pertains to Clayton State Athletics. Any further information on that front will be made available on
www.ClaytonStateSports.com.

UNIVERSITY SYSTEM OF GEORGIA CORONAVIRUS RESPONSE
Effective Monday, March 16, 2020, all University System of Georgia (USG) institutions will temporarily suspend instruction for two weeks to allow time for USG institutions to test their business continuity plans and online instruction modules and for state officials to continue to assess the current situation regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Georgia.
Â
Students who are currently on spring break are strongly encouraged not to return to campus. Students on campus are asked to depart campus by close of business Friday, March 13, 2020, and to remain away from campus until March 29, 2020. At this time, students are not being asked to move out of their dorms for the remainder of the semester. For students who are unable to leave campus, institutions have been asked to develop plans to safely accommodate those students on campus.
