Clayton State HOF Spotlight Series: Dr. Charlie Frazier Jr.

MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State Athletics Department continues its feature series that highlights members of the Athletics Hall of Fame. This week's spotlight feature highlights Dr. Charlie Frazier Jr., a member of the men's basketball team from 1998-2002.  
 
Frazier was a member of the second class (2015) to be inducted into the Clayton State Hall of Fame.
 
A four-year starter for the Lakers men's basketball program from 1998-2002, he helped lead the program to the first ever Peach Belt Conference Regular Season Championship, doing so in 2001-02 with a 19-9 overall record and 15-4 mark in league play. They were also the first team to advance to the semifinals of the PBC Tournament with a 77-61 victory over USC-Aiken.

That season he averaged 11.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.8 steals as an all-around threat and proved to be the latter for his entire career. He currently ranks in the Top-10 in 10 career categories and a pair of single season marks 18 seasons after finishing his playing career. Among those career marks is being the third all-time leading scorer in program history with 1,243 points and one of just eight 1,000-point scorers in team history.

Frazier is also the all-time leader in assists (374), second in games started (104), free throws (297) and steals (166), tied for fourth in games played (108), sixth in field goals (420), seventh in three-pointers (106) and assists per game (3.5) and tied for eighth in steals per game (1.5). For a single season, his 1.8 steals per game in 2001-02 is tied for eighth best while his 4.2 assists per game in 1999-2000 is ninth in the record book.

Frazier graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in middle level education.
 
About the Hall of Fame
Established in 2013, the Clayton State Athletics Hall of Fame was created to honor former Laker student-athletes, coaches, administrators, faculty/staff and community members who have, by their outstanding achievements, contributed to the ideals of the Clayton State Department of Athletics. Seven classes and 27 former student-athletes, coaches, administrators and special inductees have been enshrined.
