MORROW, Ga. – Entering the final month of the regular season, Clayton State (10-9, 6-5 PBC) women's basketball hosts UNC Pembroke (9-10, 4-7 PBC) on Saturday, February 1 as they look to improve their chances of hosting a Peach Belt Conference Quarterfinal next month. Tip-off is set for 1:30 p.m. at The Loch.
Entering the day the Lakers are in a three-way tie for the fourth spot in the PBC standings, deadlocking with Young Harris and USC Aiken. They currently hold the tiebreaker over both teams by virtue of wins earlier in the season. The Braves have even more to play for as they come in tied with Augusta for the final spot in the field.
Clayton State is anÂ
impressive 21-10 all-time against UNCPÂ and are 9-5 at home in the series. They have won 15 of the last 18 meetings with the only exceptions being a 69-59 Braves victory on January 19, 2015 in Pembroke, a 76-61 loss on the road on December 17, 2016 and a 53-47 decision at The Loch on February 17, 2018.

On February 25, 2017, the teams met in the PBC Tournament for the first time as the Lakers notched a 72-49 quarterfinal victory at The Loch. The series dates back to January 11, 1998 when Clayton State earned a 73-44 victory in Pembroke, North Carolina.

The Lakers posted a 58-52 win in Morrow on January 26, 2019 and made it just the third season sweep, and first since 2008-09, with a 59-47 decision in Pembroke on February 23, 2019. The others came in 2007-08 and 2002-03 with a significant gap coming from years of Divisional play that resulted in only one contest per year. This season they posted an 81-67 victory on December 19, 2019 at UNCP.
