Clayton State Set to Host PBC Leading UNC Pembroke at The Loch

MORROW, Ga. – Clayton State (3-15, 1-10 PBC) men's basketball will face Peach Belt Conference leading UNC Pembroke (15-4, 9-2 PBC) as they continue a three game homestand at The Loch on Saturday, February 1. Game time is set for approximately 3:30 p.m. following the women's contest.

The Lakers are an impressive 22-11 all-time against the Braves dating back to the first meeting on January 11, 1998. After dropping two of the first three meetings, Clayton State has dominated the series, going 21-9. That included a 12-game win streak from February, 17, 2001 through December 1, 2007.

Following a three-game win streak, highlighted by a 69-66 win in Pembroke on January 19, 2015 against the No. 14/15 team in the country, UNCP snapped that stretch with an 81-74 decision at home on December 17, 2016.

They would make it two in a row with an 85-65 decision on January 20, 2018 on that same court before the Lakers notched an 83-73 victory over a No. 18/24 Braves squad on February 17, 2018 in Morrow. UNCP has taken the last four meetings, however, claiming the 2018 PBC Tournament Championship with a 70-60 victory on March 4, 2018 and an 88-80 overtime escape on January 26, 2019, both of which came at The Loch.

UNC Pembroke posted a 122-96 decision on January 23, 2019 and most recently notched a 98-74 victory on December 19, 2019. Both of those games were in Pembroke.

Coverage of the game will be available both on live stats and live video with Mitch Evans bringing you the call on www.ClaytonStateSports.com.
