MORROW, Ga. – Clayton State (9-5, 5-1 PBC) women's basketball looks to continue chasing down the Peach Belt Conference leaders as they travel to Francis Marion (5-7, 1-5 PBC) on Saturday, January 18. Game time is set for 1:30 p.m. in Florence, South Carolina.

Entering the game, they find themselves in third place in the league behind North Georgia (14-1, 7-0 PBC) and Lander (11-3, 6-0 PBC), two teams that will face each other on Saturday. That game, combined with a victory, will give Clayton State the opportunity to draw into second place as one of those clubs will lose. It will also be a precursor to a meeting with Lander on Monday, January 20.

The Lakers lead the
all-time series 25-13 dating back to the first meeting on January 10, 1998. FMU notched an 86-61 victory that day as part of a six game win streak and 10 of the first 12 outings through March 2, 2004.

Since then Clayton State has won 23 of the last 26, including 13 straight from February 28, 2009 through January 7, 2017. Overall, they have defeated a ranked Patriots squad six times, headlined by an 86-60 decision over the No. 7 ranked team to start the last win streak.

On January 6, 2018, FMU snapped that streak with a 74-66 victory in Florence, South Carolina before the Lakers began a new one with a 68-63 decision at The Loch on February 3 later that year. They claimed an 80-60 victory in Morrow on January 12, 2019 and most recently made it three in a row with an 80-72 decision on February 9 of that year. While they are a stellar 13-3 at home, they are just 10-7 on the road in the series.
