Sprinter Jayda Daniels Opens 2019-20 Clayton State Track & Field Signing Class

MORROW, Ga. – Clayton State women's track & field and head coach Mike Mead have announced the signing of prolific sprinter Jayda Daniels (Hinesville, Ga.) to open the 2019-20 signing class.

JAYDA DANIELS: 5-4, Hinesville, Ga. (Bradwell Institute)
Currently enjoying the efforts of one Hinesville, Georgia sprinter for the past three years, the Lakers have gone back to the well with the addition of Jayda Daniels of the Bradwell Institute.

It is an addition that has the potential to see which native of that South Georgia city will end up with the most program records in Laker history.

Hailing from the same hometown as junior Nia Elmore, who has set 20 program records, Daniels brings an impressive list of accomplishments during her four years as a member of the Tigers track & field program, including a mark in the 100-meters that is already faster than Elmore's current program record.

During that time she would help lead Bradwell to 6-AAAAAA Regional Championships as a junior and senior while qualifying for the New Balance Nationals each year. Daniels was named the Fastest Freshman in the Area and earned Best of Preps First-Team honors as a junior.

Her senior season, however, would cap a tremendous high school career that would see her be a key part of the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) State Championship 4x100-meter relay team.

She would also collect her second straight Best of Preps First-Team recognition and Team Most Valuable Player honors while notching top performances in the 100- and 200-meters. In addition to her high school achievements, Daniels also competed with the District 9 Track Club.

Off the track she is just as successful, earning membership into the National Honor Society while being an Honor student. She also served as Bradwell's Student Government Vice President.

Head Coach Mike  Mead on Jayda Daniels
"Jayda is a fine addition to our sprints corps for the next few years. She comes out of high school with faster 100-meter times than our current record holder in Nia Elmore. We look for good things from Jayda during her time with us!"
