WALNUT, Calif. – The opportunity to repeat as an All-American in outdoor track and field went by the wayside on Thursday for Clayton State's
Allison Kreutzer.
Kreutzer, a senior from Lilburn, Ga., came short of earning Division II All-American honors for a second straight season in the women's 10,000-meter run at the 2008 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Kreutzer finished 12th overall in the event with a time of 36:27.07 minutes at Hilmer Lodge Stadium.
Due to extreme inclement weather, Kreutzer's race was three hours behind schedule, meaning she didn't run until approximately 11 p.m. PDT.
Last season, Kreutzer earned Division II All-American honors in both the 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter runs.
In addition to Kreutzer, the Lakers'
Keisha Etienne came up short in qualifying for the finals in the women's 400-meter hurdles. The Clayton State sophomore finished 14th in the preliminaries with a time of 1:03.41.
Action for the Lakers continue in the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field National Championships on Saturday.
