MORROW, Ga. – Clayton State (20-8, 16-6 PBC) women's basketball has won four Peach Belt Conference Tournament Championships but the pursuit of a fifth begins against USC Aiken (16-12, 12-10 PBC) in quarterfinal round action on Wednesday, March 6. Game time is set for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off at The Loch.
Overall Series History Against USC Aiken
Clayton StateÂ
leads the all-time series 23-14, dating back to the first meeting on November 20, 1995 when they won that game 78-61 as the first of four straight. Among the Lakers' wins in the series history are an impressive 5-2 record against nationally ranked Pacer teams, including a 56-50 victory over a No. 3 ranked squad on January 16, 2013 in Aiken.

Most recently the Lakers have taken nine of the last 12, but USCA notched a 67-58 decision in the first meeting this season on December 17, 2018 at The Loch. Clayton State then rebounded with a 73-68 win in Aiken on January 19, 2019.

Peach Belt Conference Tournament History Against USC Aiken
Of the Lakers 48 PBC Tournament games, the clubs have met five times with the Pacers holding a 4-1 advantage. One of those came on March 4, 2012 and is Clayton State's only loss in the PBC Championship game.

This will also be just the second time with a tournament game between the two being contested at The Loch with the only other coming on March 5, 2011 when USCA escaped with a 73-72 victory in the semifinal round.

This year's meeting will be the first between the teams since a 59-54 loss on February 28, 2015 in Aiken, which is also the only other quarterfinal meeting in series history. Clayton State's lone victory in the postseason series was a 75-62 decision in Columbus, Georgia on March 9, 2013. That win preceded their most recent PBC Championship.

Peach Belt Conference Tournament History
Overall, the Lakers have made 20 appearances in the PBC Tournament dating to their first year of eligibility in 1997-98, a span which includes each of the past 18 years. Over that time they have compiled a 23-15 (.479) record and reached the semifinals 12 times.

Of those trips to the semis, five have resulted in a spot in the championship game – where they have been dominant, winning four titles. Those came in 2008, 2007, 2010 and 2013.
