GREENWOOD, S.C. – Clayton State men's golf capped a tremendous two days on the course as they polished off a 2-of-22 finish at the 10
th Annual Bearcat Classic on Tuesday, March 26. Over the course of 54 holes they shot a 283-280-302-865 to earn the runner-up finish against one of the largest fields they will face this year.

Headlining that performance were a pair of All-Tournament selections in freshman
Javier Gonzalez (San Jose del Cabo, Mexico) and junior
Nick Woof (Leighton Buzzard, England) as both notched top five finishes. Gonzalez finished alone in third place out of 110 golfers with scores of 71-69-72-212 while Woof tied for fifth with a 72-67-75-214. Both were All-Tournament by virtue of their top five finishes.

They were joined by senior
Andres Caballero (Mexico City, Mexico) who tied for 23
rd (71-68-79-218) along with freshman
Augusto Oliva (Buenos Aires, Argentina) who deadlocked in 44
th with scores of 70-76-77-223. Sophomore
Raul Carbonell (Panama City, Panama) rounded things out in a 63
rd place tie at 71-77-78-226.

No. 11 Lincoln Memorial just barely claimed the tournament title with an 861, four strokes ahead of the Lakers, while host Lander (866) came in third and Georgia Southwestern and Newberry tied for fourth with scores of 870. Additionally, Clayton State finished ahead of Peach Belt Conference leader No. 7 Young Harris, which came in eighth at 880.

"We wanted to be up one spot higher but this was a very good result today," said head coach
Hank Kim. "The guys are showing they can not only play with some of the best in the country but come in ahead of them. This is good for us as we get ready for the Peach Belt Conference Championships next month."

The PBC Championships will be up next for the Lakers but not until mid-to-late April. This year's championship will once again be hosted by Flagler at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Florida from April 19-21.
