ALBANY, Ga. – With another strong round, Clayton State men's golf posted a 4-of-13 finish at the Hurricane Invitational, and nearly claimed top honors, on Tuesday, February 26. Overall they posted a 299-286-287-872 and were just four strokes out of first.

Senior
Andres Caballero (Mexico City, Mexico) delivered his best round of the tournament as he shot a 70 following Day 1 rounds of 71 and 73 to finish with a 214. That was good for a tie for fifth out of 75 golfers while junior
Nick Woof (Leighton Buzzard, England) and freshmen
Javier Gonzalez (San Jose del Cabo, Mexico) tied for 20
th.

Woof made a hard charge over the final 18 holes as he shot a round-low tying 68. That followed scores of 79 and 75 on the opening day and Gonzalez finished with a 76-70-76 as both shot a 222. Freshman
Augusto Oliva (Buenos Aires, Argentina) tied for 23
rd with a 223 (81-68-74) and sophomore
Raul Carbonell (Panama City, Panama) rounded things out in a 34
th place tie at 227 (73-79-75).

Southern Arkansas escaped with the tournament title with an 868 while Georgia Southwestern and No. 6/14 Young Harris each shot an 871 to tie for second. Lander (881) rounded out the top five.

The Lakers continue their torrid schedule with a tournament for a third straight week when they head to Greenville, South Carolina from March 4-5. That will be co-hosted by Limestone and Coker and contested at the Green Valley Country Club.
