MORROW, Ga. – With the second spot in the Peach Belt Conference within reach, Clayton State (16-7, 12-5 PBC) women's basketball hosts Augusta (6-17, 5-12 PBC) on Monday, February 18. Game time is set for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off at The Loch.
Entering play this coming week they sit in the third spot by virtue of a season sweep of Flagler, just completed yesterday, and trail North Georgia (14-3) for the second position. They will see the Nighthawks at The Loch on Wednesday, February 20 looking to earn a split in the season series.
The Lakers hold a
19-12 advantage in the all-time series, dating back to the first meeting on January 7, 1998. The Jaguars took seven of the first nine outings, including the first five through January 3, 2001. Clayton State, however, holds the longest winning streak in series history, taking eight straight from February 9, 2008 through February 5, 2014.
Since then Augusta won back-to-back meetings, claiming a 53-51 decision on January 31, 2015 and 69-56 victory on January 30, 2016, before the Lakers notched a 79-63 victory in Morrow on January 9, 2017. They've since made it four in a row with their most recent 73-51 decision in Augusta on January 5 of this season.
