MORROW, Ga. – A 13-0 first half run and sustained offensive effort in the second half was too much for Clayton State (2-7, 0-2 PBC) to overcome as Georgia College (5-6, 2-1 PBC) notched a 100-81 decision in an NCAA Division II men's basketball game on Saturday, December 21.
Â
Sophomore forward
Ricardo Saams, Jr. (Miramar, Fla.) just missed a double-double with 19 points and nine boards to go with four assists while senior guard
Kyle Kincey (Tallahassee, Fla.) finished with 17 points. Redshirt-junior center
Tionne Williams, Jr. (Phenix City, Ala.) came away with 14 points and eight caroms and redshirt-sophomore
Bryan Hart (Hampton, Va.) added 13 points and five rebounds.

Clayton State would come out strong as they got six points apiece from Saams and Williams as part of an opening 17-9 run over the first 5:27. That margin would grow to 30-22 by the 9:33 mark but GC would respond with an impressive 13-0 run over the next four minutes to flip the script and take a 35-30 lead. They would then maintain at least a three-point advantage before closing the period with a 49-39 margin.
Â
Over the first 3:51 of the second half the Bobcats would extend to a 60-45 lead before eventually pushing to an 18 point margin of 70-52 with 13:26 showing on the clock. Clayton State would then keep it within 14 points, 70-56, but Georgia College would make one final run to put it away, that being a 13-4 stretch that made it 83-60 with just over seven minutes left. From there they would wrap up the 100-81 decision with a sustained offensive effort.
Â
Jordan Thomas led five Bobcats in double-figures with 19 points, six boards and three steals while Christian Koneman and Chris Parks each finished with 16 points. Wesley Simpson added 14 points, seven caroms and five assists and Brandon Thomas chipped in with 10 points.
Â
The Lakers return to action in the New Year when they host Augusta on Saturday, January 4. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. at The Loch.
