Trip to Dahlonega and the North Georgia Classic Up Next for Clayton State

MORROW, Ga. – Concluding a string of three tournaments, Clayton State (3-2, 0-0 PBC) women's basketball heads to Dahlonega, Georgia for the North Georgia Classic from November 22-23.

They will open with another showdown with No. 20 Carson-Newman (4-0, 0-0 PBC), this time on a neutral court, at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, November 22 before taking on Life (5-0, 0-0 MSC-NAIA) for the first time in program history. The latter will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 23.

Against CNU the Lakers are tied at 4-4 but in a series that only just resumed after nine years last season. The Eagles won the first meeting by a 66-64 score on December 29, 2003 before the Lakers answered with a 76-54 win a year later, almost to the day, on December 30, 2004. Both games were at The Loch.

Carson-Newman delivered the most meaningful win in the early part of the series with a 75-61 win during Clayton State's first NCAA Division II Tournament appearance on March 12, 2005 but fell in the next three meetings. The last of those would be a 68-66 win for the Lakers in the postseason on March 13, 2009.

CNU then notched a 65-62 decision on December 12, 2009 in Morrow before the Eagles escaped with a narrow 90-86 victory on November 20, 2018. That game came in Jefferson City, Tennessee on Carson-Newman's home court when they were ranked third in the nation.

Coverage of the games will be available only on live stats with live video not being provided for neutral site contests. Links for these are available on www.ClaytonStateSports.com and below.
