Clayton State's Baquerizo Named to All-PBC First-Team; Brouer Repeats on Second-Team

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Senior midfielder Manoly Baquerizo (Guayaquil, Ecuador) and senior defender Janne Brouer (Aarhus, Denmark) have each been named to All-Peach Belt Conference Teams following an impressive 2019 campaign, with the former earning First-Team honors.

Baquerizo picks up her second career All-Conference recognition after notching a team-high tying eight goals to go with four assists for 20 points. On the year she has scored in seven different games and had a point in 10 contests. She scored the go-ahead and clinching goal in a key PBC victory over Young Harris (11/2) and notched the tying goal in the Lakers epic 1-1, (4-1 PK) victory at No. 3 seed UNC Pembroke (11/12).

She would be joined by Brouer on the Second-Team, who has been the epitome of a defensive stalwart. This year she has not left the field, starting all 16 games and playing all 1,508 minutes. In that time she has led Clayton State's defense to 11 games of one goal allowed or fewer, including three shutouts.

On the flip side of that coin is the offensive threat that she brings to the table. As the team's lead defender, she is tied with Baquerizo with eight goals for 16 points, accomplishing that on just 12 shots on goal. She scored in the first four games of the year and has been a key factor in the Lakers return to the PBC Tournament Semifinals for the first time since 2014.

Baquerizo was named to the Second-Team in 2017 while Brouer matches that honor from last season. It is the first time with multiple honorees since the 2015 season and Baquerizo becomes the first First-Team selection since Maria Marti Bartis in 2016.

The two selections bring the program's total to 47 overall All-PBC selection and extends a stretch of 19 straight years that Clayton State has had at least one player selected to the All-Peach Belt Conference Team.
