MORROW, Ga. – Coming off a pair of games against NCAA Tournament qualifiers Clayton State (1-1, 0-0 PBC) women's basketball hits the road to Tusculum (2-0, 0-0 SAC) for the first time in program history as the teams meet for the 10
th time on Tuesday, November 12. Game time is set for 6 p.m. in Greenville, Tennessee.
In terms of the all-time series,
Clayton State holds a 6-3 margin that includes a 2-1 mark in the NCAA Division II Tournament. That series dates back to a 71-64 victory on November 22, 1997 and then went 12 years before the clubs met in the 2009 NCAA Tournament. That meeting would see the Lakers notch a 79-68 victory over No. 16 Tusculum on March 14.
Â
Clayton State would pick up a third straight decision, 87-79, on a neutral court in Wingate, North Carolina on December 19, 2009 before TU notched a 69-63 victory in the postseason on March 12, 2010. It would be payback the following year as the Lakers took out the Pioneers by a 72-65 score when they were No. 3 in the country on November 21, 2010.
Â
Following another neutral site meeting, this time in Dahlonega, Georgia on November 25, 2011 and one in which Tusculum posted a 63-51 win, Clayton State would take the next two meetings. That would come once again in the NCAA Tournament and would see a massive 51-26 victory on March 9, 2012.
Â
The Lakers delivered an 89-61 win on November 30, 2013 at The Loch, making it at 28 points the largest margin of victory in the series history. In the most recent meeting the Pioneers escaped The Loch with a 65-62 victory on a three-point heave as time expired on November 15, 2018.
