MORROW, Ga. – After shaking off the doldrums of their recent two game losing streak, Clayton State (11-6, 7-4 PBC) women's basketball looks to continue to strengthen their chances of hosting a Peach Belt Conference Tournament Quarterfinal as they host Georgia Southwestern (8-9, 5-6 PBC) on Wednesday, January 30. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. at The Loch.
Â
Currently they hold down the fourth spot with Lander (10-2), North Georgia (9-2) and Flagler (8-3) in the top three spots. Close behind them are Columbus State (6-6) and Francis Marion, GSW and UNC Pembroke, the latter three with identical 5-6 records, in the final four postseason transfer spots.
Â
Against the Hurricanes, the LakersÂ
lead the all-time series 27-13Â dating back to the first meeting on January 4, 1992 during the first season of women's basketball. After going 4-11 over the first 15 meetings, Clayton State proceeded to win the next 18 from January 3, 2007 through February 7, 2015.
Â
The Hurricanes snapped that streak with a 71-59 victory in Americus, Georgia on January 27, 2016 before the Lakers rebounded with a 68-47 decision at The Loch on February 6 of that year. Clayton State then stretched it to a three-game streak, winning 80-53 at the Storm Dome on January 25, 2017 and again on February 11, 2017 by a 63-54 score.
Â
The Hurricanes returned with a 58-52 victory in Americus on January 24, 2018 before the Lakers started a new stretch via an 84-55 victory at The Loch on February 21, 2018.
