BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Junior
Nia Elmore (Hinesville, Ga.) did it again, which is something that could be said 15 other times in her career as she broke a program record for the 16
th time as Clayton State women's indoor track & field delivered a strong performance at the Emory CrossPlex Invitational on Sunday, January 20. As a team they finished tied for 14-of-24 with 13 points.

Competing in the finals of the 60-meters, Elmore reset the program record, her own at that, for the sixth time with a mark of 7.70. That topped her previous record of 7.79 set at the Dunamis Super Meet on February 9, 2018 and was good for a 2-of-66 finish.

She was also part of the 4x400-meter relay that finished 8-of-17 with a time of 4:05.51, teaming with senior
Sierra Glenn (Riverdale, Ga.) and sophomores
Corta'Nasha Mutcherson (Savannah, Ga.) and
Chaviya Jackson (Albany, Ga.).

Senior
Destiny Johnson (New Iberia, La.) produced an impressive indoor season debut with a pair of Top-10 finishes, including a 5-of-34 outing in the high jump (1.55m). She also placed 8-of-26 with a mark of 10.64 in the triple jump.

In addition to her performance in the 4x400, Mutcherson also had individual success as she placed 10-of-61 in the 400-meters (59.51). Joining her with another Top-10 outing would be senior
Carla Catala Martin (Barcelona, Spain), who finished 10-of-36 in the 3,000-meters with a time of 11:00.71.

Freshman
Kiara Green (Ty Ty, Ga.) added a 15-of-44 performance in the shotput (10.70m) while Jackson and Glenn would both come in in the top 20 in the 400-meters. Jackson finished 17
th (1:01.10) while Glenn was two spots behind in 19
th (1:01.37).

Other strong outings included senior
Ariel Boyd-Ghani (Powder Springs, Ga.) coming in 23-of-52 in the 800-meters (2:30.45), junior
Shockera Betty (Tallahassee, Fla.) placing 26-of-68 in the 200-meters (26.75) and senior
Lynnet Kosgei (Eldoret, Kenya) notching a 23-of-36 finish in the 3,000-meters with a time of 11:57.19.

Division I Troy won the meet with 147 points, followed by Emory (80.50), Lee (57), Alabama Huntsville (45.50) and Jackson State (35).

Clayton State will return to action from February 1-2 when they travel to Columbia, South Carolina for the Carolina Challenge.
