Matchup Between Top PBC Teams Up Next as Clayton State Heads to Lander for MLK Day Matinee

MORROW, Ga. – A matchup of two of the top teams in the Peach Belt Conference is on the docket as Clayton State (10-4, 6-2 PBC) women's basketball travels to Lander (11-5, 8-2 PBC) on Monday, January 21. Game time is set for a special 1:30 p.m. tip-off in Lander, South Carolina.

The Lakers come out of the weekend with a six game winning streak that is their longest since winning 13 in a row during the 2015-16 campaign. That stretch ran from November 28, 2015 through January 24, 2016.

Clayton State leads the all-time series 20-16, dating back to the first meeting on January 31, 1998. In the history of the series, they held a nine-game win streak from January 15, 2005, through March 15, 2008, which is the longest between the two teams.

The Lakers won five of six meetings between March 3, 2012 and December 17, 2015 but the Bearcats have taken the last seven. That includes a 92-71 decision on January 4, 2017, a 97-60 victory in the PBC Quarterfinals on March 4, 2017, 93-59 on December 19, 2017 and an 83-56 victory on January 15, 2018.

More recently the Bearcats posted a relatively narrow 68-60 decision in Greenwood, South Carolina in the PBC Semifinals on February 28 before escaping The Loch with an 88-83 victory on December 19, 2018. Clayton State is just 5-10 in Greenwood.
