OAKWOOD, Ga. – For the final time in his career, senior
T.J. Witherspoon (Thomasville, Ga.) led Clayton State men's cross country as they placed 18-of-22 at the 2018 NCAA Division II Southeast Region Championships on Saturday, November 17. Overall they notched 521 points.
Witherspoon finished 81-of-151 with a time of 35:27.94 and was followed by junior
Evan Ortiz (McDonough, Ga.) in 95
th (35:57.89).
Senior
Ryan Polk (Marietta, Ga.) came in in 103
rd with a mark of 36:26.20 and sophomores
Na'im Allen (McDonough, Ga.) and
Zach Czerniak (Suwanee, Ga.) were 121
st (37:55.82) and 133
rd (39:01.60), respectively. Redshirt-junior
Jason Dang (Gainesville, Ga.) closed out his career with a 144
th place finish and a time of 41:27.43.
Queens claimed the regional championship with 34 points with Mount Olive a distant second at 78 points. Augusta (103), UNC Pembroke (107) and Anderson (180) rounded out the top five.
Clayton State closes out the 2018 campaign following seven meets that included a second place and third place finish.
