First Meeting With Tusculum in Five Years Wraps Three-Game Homestand For Clayton State

MORROW, Ga. – Coming off of a pair of thrilling last second victories to start the year Clayton State (2-0, 0-0 PBC) women's basketball wraps up their season opening three game homestand as they take on Tusculum (2-0, 0-0 SAC) on November 15. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. at The Loch.

The Lakers come in having knocked off Anderson 67-66 on November 9 with a last second steal and No. 21 Wingate by a 56-54 margin the following day. The Pioneers have that same 2-0 mark after beating Belmont Abbey 64-49 and King 76-55 on those same days.

In terms of the all-time series, Clayton State holds a 6-2 margin that includes a 2-1 mark in the NCAA Division II Tournament. That series dates back to a 71-64 victory on November 22, 1997 and then went 12 years before the clubs met in the 2009 NCAA Tournament. That meeting would see the Lakers notch a 79-68 victory over No. 16 Tusculum on March 14.

Clayton State would pick up a third straight decision, 87-79, on a neutral court in Wingate, North Carolina on December 19, 2009 before TU notched a 69-63 victory in the postseason on March 12, 2010. It would be payback the following year as the Lakers took out the Pioneers by a 72-65 score when they were No. 3 in the country on November 21, 2010.

Following another neutral site meeting, this time in Dahlonega, Georgia on November 25, 2011 and one in which Tusculum posted a 63-51 win, Clayton State would take the next two meetings. That would come once again in the NCAA Tournament and would see a massive 51-26 victory on March 9, 2012.

The most recent meeting between the clubs was an 89-61 Laker win on November 30, 2013 at The Loch. At 28 points, it is the largest margin of victory in the series history.
