Peach Belt Conference Commissioner Dave Brunk Visits Clayton State Athletics

MORROW, Ga. - Peach Belt Conference Commissioner Dave Brunk took time out of his busy schedule to visit Clayton State Athletics on Thursday, October 18, spending time with both student-athletes and staff.

Greeted by Loch and the cheerleaders, the commissioner began the day by visiting with Laker student-athletes, presenting them with an opportunity to have a personal and casual conversation with him. During that time he expressed that he was proud of what they do for Clayton State and the Peach Belt.

Brunk also focused on the student-athlete experience and made sure they were aware of a key opportunity, that being the chance to earn the league's postgraduate scholarship.

Additionally, the league has launched an initiative designed to make sure student-athletes are able to focus on appropriate rest to be their best, both in and out of the competition venue. He also made sure to broach some of the other new cutting edge initiatives spearheaded by the league that are on the horizon.

Following his get together with the program's student-athletes Brunk met with Clayton State University President Dr. Tim Hynes before sitting down with the Lakers Athletics staff.

While speaking with that group he shared many of the same points while adding how important the league views their role in the preparation of student-athletes for their post playing career. As a group they also discussed the positive changes occurring in officiating in the league as well as the status of conference championships.

After that session he was given a tour of the extensive renovations that are nearing completion in Clayton State Athletics before joining Director of Athletics Ryan Erlacher for lunch.

"We were thrilled to have Commissioner Brunk take time out of his busy schedule to visit our campus today," said Erlacher. "It's always great to hear the new initiatives the PBC is involved with and how they intentionally look for ways to better the overall student-athlete experience."

"Clayton State Athletics is extremely grateful for all that Commissioner Brunk and his staff do for the Lakers," added Erlacher. "Year in and year out, the Peach Belt is one of the top Division II programs in the country and a lot of that has to do with the great leadership it has in place."
