MORROW, Ga. – For the second time this season, Clayton State (2-9, 0-7 PBC) women's tennis will take on the top team in the country as they host BYU-Hawaii (20-0, 0-0 PacWest) on Wednesday, March 29. First serve is set for 2 p.m. at the Clayton State Tennis Facility.
In a series that has a surprisingly frequent history, tomorrow's match will be the final between the two programs. Announced several years ago, BYUH has made the decision to shutter its entire athletic program following this season.
Since the first meeting on March 9, 2010 in Laie, Hawaii,
the teams have met seven times, all wins by the Seasiders. That first meeting was the closest with the margin being 7-2. They would meet again later that season as BYU-Hawaii claimed a 5-1 victory in the team's only postseason meeting, the Sweet 16 of the 2010 NCAA Division II Tournament.
A pair of 8-1 decisions would follow in each of the ensuing seasons before BYUH notched 5-0 wins on March 25, 2013 and March 21, 2015. Most recently they claimed a 9-0 decision on March 28, 2016. The last four meetings have all been in Morrow, Georgia with the only year they have not played since the initial match being the 2014 season.
