MORROW, Ga. – Facing a team they have played in each of the past 19 seasons, Clayton State (2-9, 0-7 PBC) dropped a 7-2 decision to Augusta (6-10, 1-8 PBC) in an NCAA Division II women's tennis match on Sunday, March 26.

The senior pairing of
Kristiin Mets (Kuressaare, Estonia) and
Darina Drozdova (St. Petersburg, Russia) got the Lakers on the board in doubles play as they demolished Eva Miralles-Miro and Marie Cantenot by an 8-1 score at the No. 1 position. The Jaguars, however, would go on to notch identical 8-2 wins at No. 2 and No. 3 to take a 2-1 lead into singles.

Augusta would continue that roll, claiming five straight matches to lock up the match. It would be Mets that finally broke up that stretch as she claimed a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Merye Gobernate at No. 1.

The Lakers return to action on Wednesday, March 29 when they take on one of their toughest opponents, No. 1 BYU-Hawaii (18-0). First serve is set for 2 p.m. at the Clayton State Tennis Facility.
