ALBANY, Ga. – In their first match in close to two weeks, Clayton State (1-5, 0-3 PBC) delivered a 9-0 drubbing of Albany State (3-10, 3-3 SIAC) in an NCAA Division II women's tennis match on Tuesday, March 14.
 
The Lakers jumped out to the early lead with a pair of 8-0 victories by the tandems of freshmen 
Laura Toscan (Balneario Camboriu, Brazil) and 
Brittney Canty (Powder Springs, Ga.) and freshman 
Laura Shkembi (Oostende, Belgium) and junior 
Alina Ageichik (Minsk, Republic of Belarus) at No. 3 and No. 2 doubles, respectively. Seniors 
Kristiin Mets (Kuressaare, Estonia) and 
Darina Drozdova (St. Petersburg, Russia) then made it 3-0 with an 8-2 win at the top spot.
 
That dominance would continue in singles action as Toscan (No. 6) and Ageichik (No. 5) notched identical 6-0, 6-0 decisions to secure the win. That would be the first of four straight sweeps as Shkembi and Mets added the others at the third and first spots, respectively. Drozdova posted a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 and freshman 
Brianna Canty (Powder Springs, Ga.) rounded things out with a 6-2, 6-2 decision at the No. 4 position.
 
Clayton State is now 2-0 all-time against Albany State, with both being 9-0 sweeps. The only other meeting came on February 4, 2005.
 
The Lakers return to action on Friday, March 17 when they host neighboring Clark Atlanta. First serve is set for 2 p.m. in Morrow, Georgia.
