MORROW, Ga. – In the wide open Peach Belt Conference West Division, Clayton State (12-11, 7-7 PBC) looks to anchor their postseason push with a critical men's basketball game at Columbus State (16-6, 9-6 PBC) on Wednesday, February 8. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. in Columbus, Georgia following the conclusion of the women's contest.
Â
The Lakers trail the
all-time series 30-13 dating back to the first meeting on February 17, 1996. Columbus State won the first five meetings through February 23, 1998 before Clayton State won four in a row through February 9, 2000. The Cougars had won a series high seven straight and 10 of the last 11 since February 16, 2011 before an 86-79 Laker victory on January 21 stopped that streak.
Â
In addition to looking to boost their hopes of reaching the PBC Tournament, Clayton State is seeking their first season sweep of the Cougars since the 1999-2000 season. That year they notched a 68-64 decision at The Loch on January 12, 2000 and an 80-70 victory in Columbus on February 9. The only other season sweep came the year before in 1998-99.
