Clayton State Set to Host Lander in First Home PBC Tournament Game; First Time in Field Since 2013

MORROW, Ga. – Following an extended absence, No. 1W Clayton State (16-12, 11-8 PBC) returns to the Peach Belt Conference Tournament and will host No. 4E Lander (11-17, 8-11 PBC) on Saturday, February 25 at The Loch. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. following the women's quarterfinal against UNC Pembroke. It is their first time in the field since the 2012-13 season.

The game is the first time that the Lakers will have hosted a PBC Tournament contest. Each of their previous games have come either on the road or at predetermined sites. In 2015 the league modified the way the postseason tournament is conducted by playing the quarterfinal rounds on campus sites.

The Lakers hold a 15-10 advantage in the all-time series dating back to the first meeting on January 31, 1998. The Bearcats took five of the first six meetings but Clayton State owns the longest winning streak, posting six straight from February 26, 2003 through January 13, 2007. Most recently Clayton State earned an 89-80 victory in Greenwood, South Carolina on January 4.

The Bearcats and Lakers have a limited history in the conference tournament, having met twice. Both of those meetings happened at least a decade ago. LU claimed the PBC Championship in 2007 with a 75-61 victory on March 3 of that year while Clayton State notched a 90-84 opening round victory on February 21, 1998. Those games were played at Lander and Armstrong State, respectively.

Lander enters the field as the defending tournament champion after pulling out an 87-86 double overtime victory last year over Augusta.

Coverage of the game will be available both on live stats and live video on www.ClaytonStateSports.com.

Tickets
General admission is $10 for an adult and $5 for senior citizens, children under 12 and military with valid ID. As per Peach Belt Conference rules, there will be no pass lists allowed for this game. Current students at PBC member schools will be admitted free with proper school ID.
