MORROW, Ga. – One game remains in the Peach Belt Conference season and, for six of the seven teams in the West Division, nothing has been decided as Clayton State (15-12, 10-8 PBC) hosts Montevallo (17-8, 11-7 PBC) on Senior Night on Wednesday, February 22. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. on Clayton County Water Authority Employee Night at The Loch following the conclusion of the women's contest.
Â
The Lakers are one of five teams that could end up tied at 11-8 in the West with a win over Montevallo. The others are UM (11-7), Columbus State (10-8), Young Harris (10-8) and North Georgia (11-7). In order for that scenario to play out, YHC would need to knock off UNG and Columbus needs to beat Georgia Southwestern.
Â
If that comes to pass, Clayton State will claim the division, the top seed out of the West and the home quarterfinal that goes with it on Saturday, February 25.
Â
The Lakers
trail the all-time series 12-3 dating to the first meeting on January 20, 2010. They lost the first three meetings in series history before notching a 57-52 decision on February 19, 2011 at The Loch. Since then the Falcons have taken nine of the next 11 outings, including a 98-69 victory in Montevallo on January 30, 2017. All three of Clayton State's wins have come at The Loch, where they are 3-4.
Â
Just before the men's game, the Athletics Department will recognize graduate forward
Jaumonee Byrd (Douglasville, Ga.), graduate guard
Mike Scott (Gaithersburg, Md.), senior guard
Maurice White (Baltimore, Md.), redshirt-senior forward
Alfonso Davis (Bronx, N.Y.) and senior center
Darrius Moore (Memphis, Tenn.).
Â
As part of the Lakers' ongoing efforts to connect with their community, CCWA employees will be treated to complimentary admission to the doubleheader for themselves and up to two children as valued community partners. In addition to a seat at The Loch, each will receive a free hot dog and bag of popcorn to enjoy during the games. Authority employees should park in Lot K and Lot L and check in at the CCWA table when entering the facility.
